Savory Keto Scones
Do you enjoy scones? Me too! This recipe makes 6 small savory KETO scones. They make a delightful snack. You can eat them on their own, with butter or mayo. Yum yum. 😀
This all started with an awesome keto bun recipe… I went to make the recipe, which called for psyllium husks and instead, I ended up using flax meal! Then I substituted caraway seeds for sesame and a new recipe was born!
The flax meal makes this baked good a bit harder. The buns turn out softer with psyllium husks but this recipe has some savory goodies and it tastes great !!
Ingredients:
5 Tbsp ground flax meal
1 cup coconut flour
2 tsp baking powder
1 tsp sea salt
2 tsp apple cider vinegar
3 egg whites
2 Tbsp ground caraway seeds
option:
1 tsp hot sauce
2-4 Tbsp grated cheese
8 leaves of fresh basil, chopped fine
Process:
Preheat oven to 350 degree F (175 degrees C )
Mix dry ingredients in a bowl
Boil water
whisk the egg whites
add vinegar into egg whites, continue whisking (add in cheese, fresh herbs and hot sauce here).
Add in boiling water and mix.
Add vinegar mix into dry ingredients. Mix.
Now add in boiling water. You are looking to create a play dough-like consistency.
Line baking try with wax paper. Form dough into ball 1.5”-2” in diameter. Flatten slightly on the tray.
Place in oven and bake for 45 minutes.
What do you do with the left-over egg yolks?? Make mayo !
