Instant Pot Bone Broth Pig Feet
Bone broths are liquid gold. They are so good for you!
In western culture, we tend to only eat the meaty cuts of the animal and throw away the bones and organs, which are actually very nutritious. Broths are easy to prepare, satisfying and packed with nutrients.
Im very glad I started making & drinking bone broths.
I came across some pork feet and tails and I made a simple, rich bone broth in my Instant Pot. Pork is very gelatinous. It is so amazing for joints and skin health.
I added spring onions and apple to give the broth a bit of sweetness, since pork pairs well with sweeter tastes.
Instant Pots are AMAZING!! So good. They make bone broths so easy. Instead of 12 hours stove top; I do 3 hrs in the Instant Pot and BOOM! Less time *and* better extraction. I love it !
Bone broths are an amazing corner stone of super food keto and primal living and the Instant Pot makes them easy.
Bone broths satisfy hunger
Ingredients:
770g pork feet & tails
270 g carrots, cleaned and chopped
150 g apple, cut into pieces
250 g celery stalks
50 g spring onion, chopped
15 g fennel seeds, ground
10 g sea salt
2750 g water
Place in Instant Pot and set for “high pressure” for 3 hrs. This is a bit long but I recommend it for a thorough extractions. I always cook my broths for a long time and I get great results. The point of the broth is to extract the nutrients in the bone marrow.
Once the cooking is done and the pressure is released, I strain the liquid .
If you do not have an Instant Pot, you can take this recipe and simmer it on the lowest setting on the stove top for 8-16 hrs.
Broth Hack:
Once the broth is strained, take this liquid gold and boil 30% of the liquid off. Pour this into jars 1/2 full. This way, you can simply add hot water to your bone broth concentrate and enjoy bone broth on the go. 👍 👍
I make a batch, concentrate it and freeze it. I thaw one serving each day.
